A 3d animation is movement of a 3d object.

Battlefield 4 animation aims for a realistic approach, with all the animation for the different types of guns and vehicles. For an example melee combat has a different animation depending on where your location is to the enemy, so if you're behind the enemy you will stab them in the neck and if the enemy is on the floor you would turn them over them stab them. This happens when the player presses the melee button what triggers these animations to happen. Again this gives the player a sense of realism because the animations are more detailed. Battlefield 4 also has a lot of different characteristics with environmental damage in the different maps, what are triggered by player's actions. This creates a sense of realism for the player because they feel like they are interacting with the world/map around them and having an impact on the game.
